"Taz, Old Harry & Ballard Down" 2006
Derwent Graphic Graphite pencils.
570mm x 410mm (22.5" x 16")
This graphite pencil portrait of 'Taz' is lifesize, measuring
570mm X 410mm, & was drawn with a large range of Derwent
Graphic graphite pencils, the use of alot of torchons & 'finger'
smudging for skin & fabric, blades for hair,
& erasers for blotting & softening!

Finally I added my own sky & water, along with a reference for
'Ballard Down' plus a little artistic licence to bring 'Old Harry
Rocks' into view as well!
Unfinished Self Portrait, Swanage
Derwent Graphic Graphite Pencils
570mm x x410mm
(22.5" x 16")
This 'unfinished' self portrait is also 'life-size ( 570mm X 410mm)
& is based on a wild & windy day on my honeymoon in Swanage,
Dorset, England in 2004!
It remains unfinished to date due to the sheer volume of
commissions that have taken presidence ever since!
My intention is to complete the potrait with the contasting (to my
husbands portrait), wild & stormy sea that often hits the bay of
Swanage with such force that it takes over the the Old Stone
Quay & parts of Shore Road, leaving rocks & seaweed as its
signature 'calling card' ....much like the monogrammed glove of
the 'Pink Panther'!!

Kates Dogs
Derwent Graphic Graphite Pencils
Size A1 = 841mm x 594mm (33" x 23.5")
This drawing was commissioned by the owners of the
three dogs, as two of the dogs had passed away, but
they wanted a drawing that showed all three together
as they once were!
They didnt have any photographs of all three dogs
together, therefore I used their whole collection of
various photographs of the dogs individually to
construct this 'jigsaw' to bring the dogs together
again for the last time.
The background I created from a number of visual
references, including the 'tree stump' (left) which was
from a photograph taken by one of my own 'drawing
class students'!
The wooden post & padlock I found in a book in a junk
shop in Sussex!
The sketch.....
Starting with "Jess"...
"Roo"....!
Hmmm....a white dog on white paper?....I have to draw the 'background' to create a shape for the dog....
...& finally "Titch"!
